Doing Right

We foster a culture guided by the ethics of mutual respect, integrity and honesty. At Southwire, we are committed to supporting those values in every aspect of our business and working lives, and we promise transparency and responsiveness when challenges arise.

Southwire is seeking to ensure the highest standard of ethical business practices within all of our operations. Specifically, we have set a goal to achieve recognition on Ethisphere’s World’s Most Ethical Companies list by 2025.
Upholding our values means fostering our commitment and obligation to ethical business in everything we do. As a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), Southwire fully supports Principle 10 – Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.

In 2020, we made terrific progress in enhancing our Ethics and Compliance program, which included a new Code of Business Conduct and new compliance policies, trainings on critical compliance topics, and enhancements to our investigation program, third-party helpline and third-party due diligence program. An enterprise-wide employee Ethical Culture Survey deployed in 2020 also provided valuable information for targeting resources and raising awareness of the Ethics and Compliance program.
We also recognize that Doing Right includes supporting supplier diversity as an important aspect of a sustainable supply chain. Our Supplier Diversity program ensures that Southwire identifies qualified small businesses including those owned and operated by minorities, females or veterans; and provides opportunities to foster the development and advancement of diverse businesses, when and where practical. Through these efforts, Southwire added 67 new small or diverse businesses to the list of approved suppliers in 2020.
*Due to changes related to COVID-19, Southwire’s total spend – including spend on small and diverse suppliers –  decreased in 2020
