SWRate Pro Software

SWRate Pro software is electrical rating software that calculates resistance, reactance, and thermal ratings in accordance with current standards.
SWRate Lite software is available as a no-cost “lite” version of the SWRate Pro software. Each software includes an extensive database of overhead conductors and cables (Pro Version Only). SWRate software will calculate, for a specific set of input conditions:
  • DC/AC resistance at any operating temperature (interpolated resistance mode also available)
  • DC/AC Thermal ratings for a determined temperature range under various combinations of solar and wind conditions (Pro version only)
  • A steady-state conductor thermal rating for a given conductor temperature
  • A steady-state conductor temperature given a steady-state current
  • A transient conductor thermal rating provided a maximum transient temperature, duration, and starting condition
  • A transient conductor temperature provided a transient current, duration, and starting condition
  • Conductor GMR (Pro version only)
  • Conductor reactance for various bundle/phase configurations (Pro version only)
  • Batch steady-state and transient results for each conductor type, including conductor properties, resistance, and reactance (Pro version only)
  • Results in U.S. Standard or Metric units
  • Custom conductors can also be modeled, saved, and deleted (Pro version only)

Annual Maintenance Contract
10% of license cost

Maintenance Contracts may be purchased for one (1) year (365 days), three (3) years, or five (5) years and must be renewed before the expiration date. Maintenance includes phone/email support, data updates, and software updates. Phone/email support may be used for questions regarding installation/operation, sales and orders, and use of the software. Data and software updates will be available through the automatic update feature in the Licensed Program.

If a Maintenance Contract is not purchased, phone/email support and updates will last for thirty (30) days from the time of order delivery.

  1. Where can I see a demo of SWRate Pro software?

    • SWRate Lite is a limited functionality version and is available here: Download SWRate Pro. Once SWRate Lite is downloaded, a product key for SWRate Pro may be entered to easily upgrade your program.

  2. What new features are in the works?

    • We have many new features planned for future versions of SWRate Pro. New features include but are not limited to: adding a CIGRE calculation method option, adding a CSA strand factor option, additional conductor types, core temperature gradient calculations, ACSR strength options, and Metric unit display on the main menu.

  3. How do you upgrade from a SWRate Pro Single-User license to a Concurrent license?

  4. Can I purchase SWRate Pro software by check?

  8. How do I determine the SWRate Pro version number on my computer?

    • Click on Help => About from the Main Menu.

  9. What can I do to fix the appearance of the software at high resolution?

    • The software may look different based on your monitor resolution.  If you are having problems reading screens, please set your monitor to a lower resolution.

  10. We have a conductor that is not listed in the SWRate database. How can we run calculations for this conductor?

    • Contact your conductor supplier for information on conductors not listed in the conductor database. To add a custom conductor, use either the “Custom” Type or Edit Conductors feature. Please refer to the User’s Manual for more information.

  11. How does one get help when an error message is displayed?

    • Call technical support at 1-877-797-2410 – Option 3.

  12. What type of license do I get if I don’t have an internet connection?
    • If an internet connection is not possible, please contact us at 1-877-797-2410 – Option 1 for additional licensing options.
