Southwire, North America’s leading wire and cable manufacturer, recently welcomed U.S. Congressman Brian Jack (R-GA-03) to its headquarters in Carrollton, Ga. to connect with company leaders and tour its manufacturing operations.
As North America’s leading manufacturer of wire and cable solutions, Southwire serves customers in the electrical transmission, distribution and renewable energy markets, which are critical to the re-electrification of America and maintaining the national electric grid, data center infrastructure and, in turn, U.S. national security.
“Congressman Jack has been an outstanding advocate for manufacturing jobs in the district, and we are grateful to have his support in Washington,” said Rich Stinson, Southwire’s President and CEO. “I’m pleased he and his staff were able to tour our facilities and meet our team members – we enjoyed their visit.”
With more than 9,000 team members across its footprint, Southwire’s ongoing investment of more than $1.8B into modernization underscores the company’s commitment to American manufacturing and American jobs, an imperative shared by Congressman Jack. During the visit, Congressman Jack and his staff visited Southwire’s headquarters and toured its Utility Products Plant, the site where the company began operations in 1950. This facility is Southwire’s largest and focuses on products that support the Utility market and the re-electrification of America.
The group also visited the company’s Carrollton 12 for Life® facility, a collaborative partnership between Southwire and local school systems that combines classroom instruction, on-the-job training, essential work and life skills, mentoring and employment opportunities. The program seeks to encourage students to stay in school, attain their diplomas and develop into successful members of their communities. The overarching goal for all participants is to complete the program and graduate high school, with a clear path towards employment, higher education or military enlistment. Since its inception in 2007, more than 2,500 students have graduated from 12 for Life.
“It was a true honor to share the 12 for Life story with Congressman Jack today and to see him interact with the incredible young people who are part of this exceptional program,” said Burt Fealing, Southwire’s Executive Vice President and General Counsel. “The success of 12 for Life shines brightly through our students – this model is a true example of how public/private partnerships can make a lasting and meaningful impact in our communities.”
Throughout the visit, Congressman Jack’s discussions with Southwire leadership and team members focused on the importance of domestic manufacturing, supply chain resilience and skilled labor.
“For 75 years, Southwire has been a major, worldwide player in manufacturing, and they’ve stayed committed to our part of Georgia. I enjoyed spending time with their leadership, touring their world-class operations and learning about their focus on education today,” said Congressman Jack. “As President Trump’s Administration works to further unleash America’s energy’s potential, we have a blueprint for success in Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District, with commitments like the one Southwire has made for more than seven decades to our community.”
Southwire’s products empower America’s electrification from coast to coast. Southwire’s operations play a critical role in the country’s supply chain, producing materials that support energy infrastructure, construction and energy projects. Congressman Jack’s visit underscores the importance of policies that support American manufacturing and encourage investment in advanced production technologies.
