Southwire Accepts Honor of Clean Water Hero at Georgia Water Coalition Clean 13 Celebration

Carrollton, Ga – March 21, 2019: On March 14, Southwire was among 13 water heroes recognized for making significant efforts to protect Georgia’s water at the Georgia Water Coalition’s annual Clean 13 Celebration, held at the Mason Fine Art Center in Atlanta, Ga.

The Georgia Water Coalition has partnered with government organizations, environmental agencies, businesses and more to protect the state’s water since 2002. Members of the Georgia Water Coalition work collaboratively and transparently with each other to achieve specific conservation goals.

Each year, the coalition recognizes extraordinary efforts of businesses, industries, local governments, non-profit organizations and individuals to protect the water and natural resources of Georgia. In September of 2018, the Clean 13 Report featured Southwire for its sustainability focus, work to protect a local stream and support to integrate solar power into the community.

“Given the accomplishments of the other entities that were recognized, I was very excited for Southwire to be included as a recipient,” said Paul Sims, senior director of remediation and sustainability. “Being recognized by the Georgia Water Coalition inspires us to continue to be good stewards of our water resources.”

Those honored at the event included the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint Stakeholders; the cities of Augusta, Savannah and Columbia County; Clayton County Water Authority; Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority; Glynn Environmental Coalition; Interface; Dr. Jenna Jambeck of the University of Georgia; Rep. Jon Burns; Lodge on Little St. Simons Island; Riverview Farms; Southwire; C.M. Stripling Irrigation Research Park; and the University of Georgia Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources.
