Southwire Launches 2018 Sustainability Report

Jun 6, 2019

Reflecting the company’s continuing commitment to sustainability, Southwire recently launched its annual sustainability report, prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards: Core option. This online update features the company’s approach, goals and advancement in its most significant, or “material,” sustainability topics.

The 2018 report highlights all areas of sustainability at Southwire and shares insight into the company’s most significant impacts and opportunities. The online report outlines and details Southwire’s progress toward its goals and strategies, which align with five tenets—Growing Green, Living Well, Giving Back, Doing Right and Building Worth.

“As I’ve said many times before, we are committed to remaining generationally sustainable for the next 100 years and beyond,” said Rich Stinson, president and CEO. “We are pleased to share this report and the progress we’ve made toward meeting our goals in 2018, but it doesn’t stop here. We will build upon the success of the past year and will keep this strong momentum as we head into the future.”

The report details the company’s successes and challenges in 2018, highlighted by significant progress in the areas of safety, strategy, operational excellence, employee engagement, inclusivity, community involvement and more.

“We have much to be proud of as we look back at 2018, and we are well into an even better 2019,” said Burt Fealing, Southwire’s sustainability lead, EVP, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. “A great deal of consideration goes into the value of our culture, our people, our business approach and our relentless commitment toward the sustainability of our company and our world. As we strengthen this commitment, we work hard every day to discover, develop and distribute sustainable solutions that exceed the expectations of our stakeholders around the globe.”
