Southwire recently welcomed U.S. Representative Mike Rogers (R-AL-3) to its manufacturing site in Heflin, Ala. to connect with company and community leaders and tour its expanding manufacturing operations.

"We were pleased to welcome Congressman Rogers to the site and share how this expansion will strengthen our capabilities, create new jobs and support long-term growth in east Alabama."
Southwire is committed to growth in east Alabama and across the United States. As part of its ongoing modernization efforts, the company is expanding its Heflin, Ala. operations, a move that will add approximately 340,000 square feet to the location’s footprint. This project, which is expected to create more than 85 new jobs, reinforces the company's commitment to its team members, customers and communities.
With more than 9,000 team members across its footprint, Southwire’s ongoing investment of more than $2B into modernization underscores the company’s commitment to American manufacturing and American jobs, an imperative shared by Congressman Rogers. During the visit, Congressman Rogers and his staff connected with Southwire leaders and team members and toured both the current Heflin manufacturing operations and the construction site for the company’s Heflin expansion.
Throughout the visit, Congressman Rogers’ discussions with Southwire leadership and team members focused on the company’s ongoing commitment to growth and the importance of strengthening American manufacturing and American jobs.

Southwire’s Heflin Plant, which opened in 1996 as Forte Power Systems, was built to support medium and high voltage cable production.
The current construction marks Southwire’s fourth expansion at the Heflin Plant, highlighting the company’s ongoing commitment to reinvesting in core wire and cable operations. Southwire's upgrades at the Heflin Plant will enhance state-of-the-art medium voltage cable production at the site. Construction is expected to be completed next year, with equipment and capacity coming online in late 2027.
In addition to capacity and production expansion, the facility design includes comfort cooling and other efforts to provide a modernized team member experience as well as sustainability enhancements, like a rainwater collection tank for designated facility operations.
