4-11/16" square extension rings are added to junction boxes to increase wiring capacity and provide access for additional conduit runs and electrical wire. Split design allows for greater flexibility. There is no need to disconnect wiring already in place when adding a ring. Also allows easier access to the back of the box when pulling wire.
