Craig Morgan to Headline Southwire’s Community Day

Aug 12, 2016

With a strong focus on honoring the area’s military veterans and active servicemen and servicewomen, Southwire will host its annual Community Day on Saturday, October 1. Headlining the entertainment for this year’s event will be country music entertainer, award-winning TV host and military veteran, Craig Morgan.

“Every year, we connect a theme with Community Day, and as we planned for this year’s event, all of our discussions revolved around recognizing our military,” said Ashley Bush, Southwire’s director of media and community relations. “As we plan to honor our heroes, we are very excited to welcome Craig Morgan to Carrollton. His pride for our country, his legacy of service and his incredible talent make him a perfect fit for the day.”

A multi-faceted entertainer, Craig Morgan has made a name for himself as a country music icon, TV host, celebrated outdoorsman and patriotic Army veteran. One of country music's best-loved artists, Craig thrills massive crowds with signature hits including “Bonfire,” Almost Home,” “International Harvester,” “This Ole Boy,” Wake Up Loving You” and the six week #1, “That's What I Love About Sunday.”

“I'm an American country boy who loves his country, his family and his God, and all of those things collectively dictate who I am,” said Morgan on his website.

Southwire’s annual event will kick off with electronics recycling, a semi-annual partnership with Keep Carroll Beautiful, which will be hosted at Southwire’s corporate headquarters from 9:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m.

Community Day will continue in downtown Carrollton with Southwire’s second annual Charity Cruise-In, which will begin at 2:00 p.m. All types of vehicles - vintage, classic or new - are welcome to register by visiting www.southwire.com/charitycruisein.

Registration for the cruise-in is free; however, all donations collected throughout the event will benefit the American Warrior Garage, a non-profit organization engaged in the restoration of vehicles for the benefit of wounded warriors and veterans.

“The American Warrior Garage was founded to help our wounded warriors and veterans reintegrate into civilian life and continue to lead productive lives,” said Vince Gibson, executive director of American Warrior Garage. “The support of [our sponsors] enables us to provide much needed services to our veterans and wounded heroes. We look forward to this year’s Community Day and express our sincere appreciation to Southwire and the local community for their efforts toward the charity cruise-in.”

In addition to the vehicle showcase, the Charity Cruise-In will feature door prizes and live music as well as a shuttle for Southwire plant tours.

At 6:00 p.m., Community Day will culminate at The Amp at Adamson Square with a special tribute to local military veterans and active duty servicemen and servicewomen. Morgan will headline a free concert as he performs many of his most-recognized songs, as well as highlights from his new album, “A Whole Lot More to Me.”

Opening for Morgan will be Josh Gracin, country music artist, American Idol top four finalist and United States Marine Corps veteran. Gracin is best known for his hit songs including: “Nothin’ To Lose,” “I Want to Live” and “We Weren’t Crazy.”
