accurate cable mapper
this is a well built tool. It is not flimsy by any means. The tool and accessories are rugged and substantial. My only complaint is that I wish that a zipper storage case were included, I'm not too sure as to how long the little foam block that the 5 each locator attachments for coax/data jacks will hold up bouncing around in a tool box. I bought a zipper pouch at home depot to keep the tools in just to keep all the parts together

Overall Great Tool.
Makes my job a whole lot easier. I used to have to check continuity on all pins of my Cat-5 cables (long and tedious process). Now with the cable mapper it's just plug and play.

Outstanding product
This meter is smarter than I am, which is humbling. I asked the question in the Q&A section about a consistent error I was receiving when I tested newly installed ethernet jacks. In a moment of insight, I tested the two patch cords I was using for this test -- one was bad! The meter is so smart and helpful. Multiple jacks installed jacks needed additional attention before testing fine. Do yourself a favor and get this meter if you're installing ethernet, video or making patch cables.

A Versatile Mapping Tool
I found the VDV Cable Mapper to be a great addition to my tool kit. It is easy to use and the resulting outputs are easy to understand. The storage of the remote in the bottom is convenient and minimizes carrying additional items. The testing is quick and reliable. The ability to test cables and links easily is helpful and saves time.
The only complaint is that it should come with a case to keep extra parts together.

Versatile tool ideal foer troubleshooting
great for testing voice data and video cables for proper connectivity. It can track opens, shorts, split pair, and reverse wire condition and identifies cable identification. It can trace multiple cables simultaneously using included remotes which save time when mapping out connections to document networks. Includes F connector adapter for coax cable testing and troubleshooting connection issues.

Works but ID mapping is pointless.
I want to first state I bought this M300P on clearance for less then just a cable tester. It works great at testing network cable runs and patch cables and will tell you what is miswired. It doesn’t instantly die if you plug it into a POE connection, that is nice! It will generate three different tones which comes in handy sometimes. I really like that it will send a tone through coax cable. I don’t do much with coax but it would have saved me about a hour of my time if I had it a couple of months ago. I honestly do not see how the ID mapping would be a benefit. I have never went to a job where the cables we not already identified and I have never seen a electrician or low volt technician not ID the cables when they are installing them. But even if I did go to a site where I had to ID the cables I do not see how this M300P would help much unless it was a really small office with only 5-10 runs. The ID devices do not send tone, so if I go out on the floor and plug all 5 in, am I supposed to go back to the rack and plug the M300P into all 48 or 96 ports to find the 5 IDs? And if the cable was miswired the ID devices may not even communicate with the M300P. What really would have been beneficial is if the ID devices worked like the removable module and allowed you to fully test the cable run, this would have been a huge benefit because some of the jobs I work at the cables terminate 150- 200 feet away from the data closet. Even the option to buy more of the remotes that allow you to do a full cable test would be nice. I also wished that they would have made the coax port removable or flush, I can imaging dropping it one time and it lands on that coax jack and breaks. I am also a bit disappointed that even though I bought mine on clearance and it was in a new sealed package and had the plastic over the display, my display has two scratches on it.

Amazing Remote Mapping & Testing
There will be no more questions on the integrity of that cable behind the wall. Slap this on there and find out who or what the problem is. Excellent remote mapping with a tone generator so you do not have to switch tools just get your probe and keep going. Trace & test your RJ45's, RG6, and patch cables all in one.
