Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gets the job done but can be tricky This comment is for the MSBFAN model box that is used for new or old work to support a fan or light fixture. My review is for an old work application. When you are working with an existing hole, getting the wires into the box can be tricky, especially if they are short. You first have to get the wires into the box and then mount the box using the three screws, again which can be tricky. But by far the biggest headache with this product are the screws. They are threaded all the way so they tend to move the box out of position and then it's difficult to get solid contact/support on the first try because the threads are engaged with the box. It will take a couple of attempts. The biggest improvement that can be made with this product is to change to wood style screws that are unthreaded near the head. This will provide for a firm grip into the wood while letting the box move freely and easily stay in position for good contact on the first try.

Will this box screw into an I-joist or do the screws come out at too high an angle so they’ll miss the center of the joist?
