Southwire HV Solutions is proud to be North America’s exclusive supplier of NKT Cable’s complete line of high voltage cable accessories for 69 to 345 kV. Accessories use premolded LSR stress cone technology throughout.
Available Accessories:
- Outdoor terminations with porcelain or silicone rubber composite insulators
- GIS and Transformer terminations to IEC 60859
- Dry Plug and Socket compact switchgear and transformer terminations through 145 kV
- Premolded cable splices
- Splice options include shield breaks, metal casing, DTS fiber integration, capacitive PD detection ports, bolted or compression connectors, cable size transition
- Transitions between different cable insulation types are available
Other Considerations:
- For termination of a cable and connecting the conductor to the overhead lines, terminations are necessary. For this purpose the field strength at the end of the outer semi-conducting layer must be reduced and be controlled in such a manner that no discharges will occur. Other important properties which must be fulfilled are:
- Current carrying connection for conductor and screen/sheath
- Protection against ingress of moisture
- Relief of inner and outer mechanical forces
- Insulation level must be the same as for the cable.

- UV and ozone resistance
- Durable water rejection
- Weather and aging resistance
- Non-flammable, self-extinguishing, heat resistant
- Applicable for use at temperatures between -50 C and +180 C
