Website Redo Dresses Up Cost-Cutting E-Business - 2004

A new look for mySouthwire.com delivers E-commerce programs that reduce business costs.

There’s a new look on Southwire’s Web site, and we hope you like it. A cleaner appearance and more direct navigation improves access to technical content and cost-cutting E-business tools.

“New features on the Southwire site include direct links to the Southwire product catalog, Q-Service accounts, and sales contact information,” says Lutricia Preston, director of systems and marketing services for Southwire’s Energy Division. “You’ll also see useful metals pricing information, calculators and online videos.”

mySouthwire.com offers time-saving business access

The Southwire Web site – mySouthwire.com – can reduce your business costs by streamlining your transactions with Southwire. The site offers self-service features, e-commerce capabilities and user-friendly account interfaces that customers can tailor to their individual business needs. Account holders can check inventory, pricing and order status online at any time, with no waiting on the phone. Multiple password levels allow controlled access to customized accounts.

Recent upgrades to online Q-Service and Southwire Inventory Management (SWIM) e-commerce capabilities make it even easier to do e-business with Southwire. Q-Service provides access to more than 2,000 Southwire products 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Time-saving features include templates that speed online ordering for items you purchase frequently. You can even manage supply chains and arrange Just in Time (JIT) deliveries that hold down inventory costs. Southwire Inventory Management services can help Southwire customers reduce the cost of maintaining inventory. “We are continuing to develop the e-commerce tools available to our customers,” says Preston.

Southwire E-business initiatives reap recognition

Web-based Q-Service capabilities are part of the information technology strategy that has pushed Southwire into the top 15 percent of the most innovative users of IT in the U.S. in the prestigious InformationWeek 500 listing for 2003.

Preston says. "Southwire has been a technology leader in the industry for 50 years with products, processes and manufacturing machinery, and we’re continuing to invest in innovative technology. Our creative use of information technology has helped give our company – and our customers – competitive advantage in the marketplace."

Preston concludes, “We’re continually developing the site. Watch for fresh content, additional tools and fewer clicks to find what you need. We hope www.mysouthwire.com will be the place you go for technical, product and application information.”
