Southwire’s employees are committed to making the communities in which we work better places to live. By giving our time through volunteering with civic and community groups, we create positive impacts in the places we call home. Collectively, we call our efforts Project GIFT (Giving Inspiration for Tomorrow). Whether it is raising funds for a worthwhile cause, working with beautification efforts, lending a hand to those facing tough times or ensuring children are prepared for school, Southwire’s Project GIFT team always remains ready to help.

Who are Blackshirts?

For the first Project GIFT event, a team of 10 employee volunteers traveled to Waveland, Mississippi to assist with a Christmas event planned for victims of Hurricane Katrina. The group, which played a large role in helping families choose gifts, earned the nickname of the Blackshirts. Today, anyone who volunteers at two or more approved Project GIFT events a year becomes a member of the Blackshirts.
