Project GIFT® is proud to announce their 6th annual Back To School Giveaway. The event will be held Saturday, July 17, from 9 a.m. until noon at Southwire’s corporate parking lot. The event is open to the public.

The bags will be broken down into two categories: K-3rd grade and 4th-12th grade. School supplies for grades K-3 consist of crayons, pencils, wide-ruled paper, ruler, copy of U.S. Constitution, erasers (long & cap), glue stick, hand sanitizer and blunt scissors. The supplies given to grades 4-12 are note cards, highlighters, composition notebook, colored pencils, pencils, tab dividers, college ruled paper, copy of U.S. Constitution.

Wal-Mart Vision Center staff will be onsite offering vision screenings for children.

Children can also enjoy the company of mascots Roger Romex, Candice the Can-Do Can, Wolfie and the Pizza Slice from Papa Johns. Over 100 volunteers, including Project GIFT® Blackshirts, UWG, Associated Credit Union, Wal-Mart, Walgreens and Tanner Medical will be present.
 
West Georgia Technical College is sponsoring the “My Favorite Teacher Is…” contest. Children who attend Back To School have the opportunity to vote for their favorite teacher. If their teacher wins, he or she wins a money prize towards his or her classroom.

Please come out and be a part of this exciting annual event with the rest of your community. You will be able to check off that shopping for school supplies off of your to do list.

Project GIFT Video Archive

Project GIFT® Project Gift is one of Southwire’s most outstanding endeavors. The dedicated team of volunteers works tirelessly to bring aid to those in need. Their projects have included events such as Katrina relief, Back to School, and many other community projects.

Project GIFT®: Waveland, Mississippi In the aftermath of Katrina, Southwire employees assembled to make the Christmas season unforgettable. Christmas on the Coast brought together large companies to provide residents with some sense of normality as they pieced their lives back together.

Project GIFT®: Enterprise, Alabama When a devastating storm struck Enterprise, Alabama, Project Gift was on the scene quickly, providing much needed supplies. With the help of the local Lions Club, within 48 hours relief was on its way as the Blackshirts mobilized to help those in need.

Hurrincane Ike: Relief in Texas 16 days after hurricane Ike hit Bacliff, Texas, Project Gift volunteered rushed in the community to support those who were affected by the destructive storm. The Blackshirts provided much needed supplies and lifted the spirits of the victims.
