Feeder MC Deals Winning Hand for Wynn Las Vegas
Wynn Resorts recently raised the stakes of the casino game with the construction of it’s first destination resort on the Las Vegas strip. This total resort experience integrates extraordinary facilities, like a world class golf course right out the back door and rooms that average 640 square feet with panoramic views from floor to ceiling windows. This facility needed to be as technically sophisticated as it is aesthertically pleasing requiring precise integration of all electrical power systems that support this luxury resort. The $2.7 billion Wynn Las Vegas, luxury hotel and casino resort made the idea of traditional pipe-and-wire installation more of a “high stake roll of the dice” wager than a sure thing. Luckily, by installing Southwire® feeder MC cable, contractor was able to beat the odds.

Designed to excite the senses, Wynn Las Vegas is the epitome of luxury. From around-the-clock gaming to 5-Star dining, every aspect of the resort, officially opened in April 2005, offers guests an exciting chance to beat the odds. The massive landscape - featuring a 48-story hotel tower with 2,611 luxurious guest suites; a 120,000 sq. ft. casino; 15 restaurants; a 1,366 space parking garage; an on-site 18 hole-golf course; approximately 223,000 square feet of meeting space; and approximately 70,000 square feet of retail space - challenged conventional pipe-and-wire installation methods. Thus, to effectively accommodate the unprecedented size and the diversity of the individual installs, architects specified custom-armored feeder MC cable as their ace in the hole. Service and support. The flexibility of Southwire® feeder MC cable made it the perfect solution for Wynn Casino. Unlike conduit, feeder MC is flexible and can be bent to accompany any angle or incline. It’s also easier to install, requiring fewer tools, fewer workers and significantly less time. The variety of the installs changed the game entirely. Accordingly, Southwire supplied custom products to accommodate the unique fire alarm applications for each venue. Additionally, Southwire provided contractor-specified armored communications cable to facilitate continuous communication between venues. |

When paired with the tremendous time savings MC cable provides over conventional pipe-and-wire installation, the contractor was able to cut overall installation times by 50%. Southwire’s reputation as a one-stop-shop for building wire and cable played a pivotal role in the time savings associated with this project. As a result, the contractor did not have to source out to multiple manufacturers for wire and cable. With Southwire, they had everything they needed. For the project, the contractor was able to coordinate with Southwire’s Starkville service center to create and supply all necessary aluminum and copper feeder MC cable and electrical wiring on an as-needed basis.
